The Cayin A-88T looks much better and more expensive, my girlfriend asked, are you sure it is the same amplifier as in the photos... :(

I replaced all the original tubes, will start testing after break-in, to start it sounded thin, but it is recovering fast...

The big Mac was my dream machine...

I will take and post pictures later today...

It already sounds better than the Cayin, a slight glare the Cayin sometimes had on the midrange, is not there anymore... :)

Is it EL34 versus KT88, or because I have better power tubes on the Classic, and original Chinese on the Cayin, probably the second...

My speakers are 4 ohm, single driver, should be easy to drive...

With the Cayin A-88T, they sounded bad on the 4 ohm terminals, then I read on a review that the 8 ohm was better, changed, and bingo...

Now I changed to the Classic 16.0, one user said 4 ohm have more bass, better sound, I use it and it does sound very good...

Before I test, I would like to know, in theory, wich should sound better, and why, more os less transformer windings used, etc...

Thanks,

One of he SIEMENS driver tubes flashes big time when I switch on the amplifier, the other doesnt, is this a problem ?

Bad picture, it is dark, rain and snow, and the phone camera needs lots of light...

Found a picture of the interior

I am surprised to see PCBs, it means they took a lot of time to develop it, and intend to sell many...

No ideas ? Googling around it looks like the 4 ohm tap will use less windings...

In theory I would look at the impedance curve or the nominal impedance if I couldn't find it and drive the speakers from the tap below that. In practice that it the one that is likely to sound best.

Looks okay to me, quite nice in fact. The lapsed time display could be pretty handy I'd have thought and the meter for setting bias with different tubes. Looks well finished as well. Though why you've put it on the floor I don't know. You'll do yourself an injury.

Thanks, the bias setting is perfect, all I need is a screwdriver, not even move the amp...

It is on the floor, but on 3 very good Stillpoints supports...

It was more all the bending down to do anything with it. I'm no remote control fan ... but on the other hand I do try and get all my gear roughly near waist height as it'd do me back in, bending down to change anything.

PS. It's gotta be worse for dust too, surely.
