Why are those JM speakers not actually wired up to anything? All that equipment and he listens to Harry Belente what ever his name is!

    Good Grief!
I had to do a double take...I wondered why he had a 1970s Belling electric cooker in the midst of it :D

Take-me-to-your-leader - Didn't those Reel-to-reels try to eat the Goodies on TV once?

What is an Air Tangent thingy anyway?

I never realised how large those master reference amps were until I saw those pictures. Wow! Makes my forthcoming ATC based system look as compact as a bose package. The room looks pretty tiny for all that power though. Perhaps a bit wasted really.

    Drools on keyboard.

How many people here would go that far and build a system like that if cash was no object ?

That may be so, but to a lot us a system like that is out of reach, hell, I'd like to own one Krell power amp, and err, pre amp.

One thing that did stand out was how immaculately clean it all is, not a speck of dust to be seen.

Oh, and agree about the chairs.

It's the way he's hacked that TT to put his own mod on it.

Amazingtrade the disc is by "Harry Belafonte" quite a famous singer, and not too bad at that

A parallel tracking air bearing tonearm - as seen in the one picture of the turntable. Until the Kuzma one came out it was regarded as the best, and to some ears still is, example of this type of tonearm.

Me too! Mind you he could well need a quick snack while deciding what format to play his Harry Belafonte on. " Hey Mr. Tallyman, tally me' banana". Am I on the right track or shall I fetch my coat?

Too much stuff for my tastes, to sit down and relax listening music is one of lifes great pleasures but such an untidy atmophere would detract from the pleasure. I simply couldn't enjoy sitting in THAT room in THAT chair

Probably not - or at least not on show. Call me shallow, but if I'm spending a lot of money I like my kit to be well designed ergonomically and aesthetically attractive or if they require no interaction from me such as power amps hidden - power amps the size of a 30 inch telly don't really fit that bill.

This is not a criticism of the guys system, which lets face it is pretty amazing, but it is all a bit messy and untidy. If money was no object I'd have a total swank pad like the one James Mason had in North by North West (old Hitchcock movie) - you know - The one on top of mount rushmore (kind of) .

My "in my dreams" "money no object" system in such a set up would be nearly invisible - probably just a record deck a pre amp on display. I wouldn't have a CD player on display as I'd have my CD stuff burned to HD and run off one of the latest swanky iMacs (all that white perspex and aluminium, mmm :p ).

Of course, others would disagree and take the view that if you spend fabulous amounts of cash you would want everyone to see it. That's fine but I can't imagine James Mason putting up with that lot :)

Mind you I guess the question wasn't "if money were no object what kind of house would you live in and where would your stereo fit" so maybe I strayed a bit. I think the answer's still no - much prefer the minimalist scandinavian type design approach - to much bling and too many cables really wouldn't make Auntie a happy lady

PS. Still a bit envious though - but not of those chairs

PPS. The tape decks would be hidden behind electrically operated sliding panels - so I could pretend I was in Thunderbirds.

I don't think I could live with all that stuff, even if I was rich enough to afford it. I'd like fewer boxes and direct the savings towards the new M3:).

But hey, if he likes it, good luck to him.
