Was wondering recently why I hadn't heard anything that gets near to 'Secrets of the Beehive' when this popped up on the radio:
'The Good Son Vs the Only Daughter', which is an album of re-mixes of 'Blemish', so had a look at that and 'challenging' would probably be the way that it gets summed up.
I know it's my fault for not paying attention but does anyone have an overview of the Sylvian output between 'Secrets' and now?
'Dead Bees on a Cake' looks like it should get a listen.......any views?

Got to say, if you think 'The Good Son Vs the Only Daughter' would be 'challenging', then the original release 'Blemish' would be extremely hard to endure.

On the Sylvian lists this got a real panning because of the Derek Bailey tracks. If you don't know him search around for examples of this countries premier avante-garde guitarist.

Personally I think you should get everything he has done, as I feel he is a very under-rated singer/songwriter, and even when difficult is brilliant.

BTW the list is here http://groups.yahoo.com/group/japan-pioneers (Japan and other members discussed here)

Didn't express myself well: the impression I got was that 'The Good Son Vs the Only Daughter' was a much easier listen as opposed to the earlier 'Blemish' which was quite difficult. Have only heard tracks from 'The Good Son' so far, so that sounds like it might be the one for now.

Thanks for the link.
