I'm looking to source some cable to connect a SMPS to a Power Amp module. It has to be soldered into 1.5mm holes on the PCB and rated at about 300W. Any recommendations for a good performance cable that I can get from RS, Farnell or Maplins?

Should be about 6.5amps per rail. The SMPS kicks out 48volts at 625VA.

10A per 1mm^2 conductor area is fine, so it doesn't have to be huge stuff - the Van Damme speaker cable on offer at the mo. at Maplin would be ideal.

I'd be far more worried about keeping loop area down to minimise EMI - tightly twist or bundle together the + and - conductors.

    No No No.....

the insulation is not rated for mains or higher ...but agree with the twist.

look for a ptfe insulated stranded core...of suficient dia to carry the current you need.
