It has to be soldered into 1.5mm holes on the PCB and rated at about 300W. Any recommendations for a good performance cable that I can get from RS, Farnell or Maplins?

I'd be far more worried about keeping loop area down to minimise EMI - tightly twist or bundle together the + and - conductors.
