Ok all, I'd like your opinions... one of the "best" deals I have come across for floorstanders appears to be the following...

Indigo 1 speakers with matching passive subs for £300. I usually buy second hand but this appears to be rather decent....

Any thoughts?

Thanks, Tim

Sounds good.

I've not personally heard the Indigo speakers but I understand they were well received. I think they've ceased trading now.

Thanks Kermit...

A JM Labs fan I see (or are you just plugging the name?)

I liked your design for air platforms. Very good idea. What difference did they end up making?

i think it was Matt F who owned some and I seem to recall that he liked them quite a bit .
might be worth Pm ing him to ask .

Not me dude - never owned them I'm afraid.

Other good deals for <£300 floorstanders are the Tannoy R2's - going new for £220 at the moment.

Matt.

i have a pair of indigo model 1's in my "2nd" system, in the study.

lovely speakers
you must have found them on ebay, £135 + £155 for the subs, + £10 delivery

personally i'd just go for the model 1's by themselves, they go reasonably deep for such a small enclosure.

Sorry Matt ,
I originally thought it was Robert , but then remembered he had the pmc,s so then your name popped into my head .

Just plugging the name , Tim
Sometimes I love them , sometimes I don,t .
I,d quite like to get my hands on the 907be or the micro utopia be , but I think it,ll be a while before I get a chance .

If your short of funds , then the homemade air plats are worth a try . I think they,re a must with wooden floors , but not so necessary with concrete floors .
I also think you get a cumilative effect with them . The more kit you have on them , the better .
If you,ve seen my website , you,ll notice I used them under everything .Even one under the Hark rack .
I,ve got my hifi in the living room these days (smaller flat and concrete floors)so I don,t use them any more .(The misses wouldn,t want them in there  )
Single tube air platforms perform the best (really wobbly) but you can still get good results with 2 tubes in a platform (far more stable)
And of course the good news is that you can make them for as little as a tenner each (basic design)
I,m not going to comment on the sound , as you know it,s not PC to comment on this sort of thing :D
The simple fact is , they,re so cheap to knock up it,s worth trying (especially if you have wooden floors)
Under the speakers first , then cdp , then amps ......
If you like the effect , then you can either make some nicer ones or buy some siesmic sinks.

ps ,
the sound ...... well it,s a bit contradictory .
the sound definately seems to feel more relaxed , but your also aware that the music is more dynamic , and you get a bigger soundstage ,so like I said contradictory.

I know Hifi+ isn't held in particularly high regard on this forum, but if you check, you'll see they carried a highly favourable review on the standmounts.

Dry but not very sunny, been listening to me new headphones, Ergo AMT's currently using second pre out and MF xa50's to drive them, these are bloody good, plenty of bass and nice top end, not as spacey as I'm used to but great none the less, am currently negotiating the purchase of a MCCormack MID, think this would run them well and could be driven from tape out.

Wasn't sure if you meant me or not but still I hear your unmodded Wadia you currently have for sale is very good indeed.
