I bought this cartridge which was new in April 2009, from a guy on this forum, so I could try out the Source TT which I had just bought. I have his original purchase invoice from Harrow Audio.

When the cartridge came boxed it was sent unopened to J7 with my Alphason Xenon which was to be rewired, and I asked J7 to mount the cartridge for me.

When I got the rewired arm back a few weeks ago, I mounted it back on the Source, but I could only achieve inconsistent playback, some records worked others did not.

In an effort to identify the problem I want to Noteworthy Audio yesterday, who checked over both the Source & Xenon then found that the DL-304 cantilever was not straight when under pressure on the record.

I am offering this cartridge for sale, in the knowledge of the above, can it be sorted out or at the worse used as a trade in.

If it was new in April 2009,then surely it's still in warranty. Why not just send it back for a new like for like replacement?

Best wishes

Ian

I am not the original purchaser but worth asking the question anyway.

HI FF.
It was not cheap in Aust. Dollars about Six Fifty. I bought it new could get new one for that price but i thought
with the Ruby canterliver and better Stylis i would be in front
I now have a Denon R103 Three Seventy in our worthless paper.
Regards Noel W.

I thought a retip might be a tad expensive, so my only options are a warranty if possible or a sale for trade im etc.

Thanks

The Denon DL304 went back to the dealer this week who sold it in April 2009 who confirmed today that it has been damaged by a user and had a bent cantilever & suspension damage.

Although you could not see this until you mounted the cartridge and played a record. No wonder my system sounded crap.

I have learnt a very learnt a very hard lesson, never buy a used cartridge from someone who has only had it for weeks, then puts it up for sale.

Not surprising the guy who sold me the cartridge will not respond to any emails from me.

The seller who knows who he is should be ashamed and also owes me £195.

Harrow Audio have now binned the cartridge.

Still radio silence from the seller, I can only hope he suffers something more significant than a loss of £195 on a bust cartridge!
