Poised to find a copy of Mr P's opera, preferring Emma Kirkby in most situations but open to persuasion. I don't like Janet Baker or J Norman.

    Any thoughts?

The recent BBC R3 BAL chose Catherine Bott.

I have two versions, both coming as part of boxed sets of 50 CDs or whatever.
Both are excellent to my ears, but I didn't really know the music, apart from the lament of course..

    Emma Kirkby, Catherine Bott, Hogwood

and Anne Sofie von Otter, Stephen Varcoe, Pinnock.

Maybe I very slightly prefer the former - and I can't really imagine anyone else's being much better.
