I'm considering making some interconnects using Maplin Shark Coax cable (N61AR) it has silver plated copper core and PE insulation. OK so far so goo. The one thing (major thing!) is that I don't know which bits to connect to where in the plugs. I assume I use the core on one connection and the braid on the other! Is this right. Also is this cable going to be OK or would I be better using something else (Pref from Maplin).
    Cheers all

yeah the braid is the earth and is soldered to the outer larger inside circle in your RCA. The core goes to the centre pin on your RCA plugs.

Is it Digital Coaxial Cable : Shark : N61AR ?

    If so use:

Phono Plugs, for 6 mm, JZ09K (black) and JZ10L (red) £1.99 each
Instructions on using this type of phono plugs is at http://evildonut.34sp.com/main/index.html

    For BNC use
    BNC Clamp Connectors : FE99H Plug 75 : £1.99 each

I bought it for making digital I/C but heard no improvement over low loss satelite cable. Might use it for analogue one day.

You would be better using 4n silver wire in ptfe sheath and some bullets...cost about £50 but well worth the effort.

pm me if you want to know more

Their prices are good if the stuff are genuine. But the 'Brothers' sell only ready made stuff :(

Shame that they won't sell Eichmann Bullets and other bits for us DIY addicts :(
