Does anyone else think that final Who story was way off key?
There have been hints in earlier episodes but that last one hit the viewer square in the forehead with a whole string of scenes in which Who is crudely presented as a Jesus like figure.
What is going on here? Doesn't the Beeb exercise any kind of editorial control over Russell T Davies? Dr Who is a kids programme after all and RTD has been given Torchwood as a vehicle for his other (somewhat discordant, bloody and unpleasant) themes and hobby horses.
It's not like the Jesus analogy makes any kind of point, or forms an essential part of the story line or even adds depth or interest to any of the characters. So why include it?
I worry that this franchise is now being taken somewhere I don't want to follow and I have to say it's slowly losing the interest too of my kids (11 and 13) who are quite disappointed at the apparent move away from traditional monster based tales.
