Has anyone A/B'd the recent Astralwerks remasters with the bog standard EG ones ? All the reviews I've read said they were a big improvement but reviewers don't have to shell out £14 a pop !

Particularly interested in opinions of Another Green World / Before and After Science / Taking Tiger Mountain and Here Come the Warm Jets.

Cheers.

as one member posted on some losless music tracker :
I do have one comment regarding the remastered versions, and that is that the track start/end points have not been edited very well in a number of places. This leads to an abrupt burst of noise at the beginning of some tracks where the preceeding track buts up without a fade. This is really annoying particularily on "Here come the warm jets" where the beginning of "Some of them are old" has a nasty "BLAAART" from the distorted guitar at the end of "Dead finks don't talk". Of course you would only notice this on shuffle play or using an MP3 player that doesn't handle gapless playback.

There were also several other issues with the Astralwerks editions of "Another Green World" and "Apollo". Both original pressings had wrong track orders or duplicate tracks. I can't vouch for Astralwerks Q/A here, but the remasters sound very good. I bought 'em all
i have flac version of astralverks remastered another green world, but not listened yet, so maybe later i can compare (i have original issue cd also)

I bit the bullet and shelled out for the first four. They sound ace. Particularly enjoying Percy Jones' superhuman bassplaying.

where did you buy them from - have you anyu links..? - I search on amazon.co.uk but they didn't seem to have any...

cheers
