Ok...you can leave those amps on but go for the lights or TV!

Participate in the biggest mobilization of Citizens Against Global
Warming!

The Alliance for the Planet [a group of environmental associations] is calling on all citizens to create 5 minutes of electrical rest for the planet. http://www.lalliance.fr

People all over the world should turn off their lights and electrical appliances on the first of February 2007, between 1.55 pm and 2.00 pm in New York, 18.55 for London, and 19.55 for Paris, Bruxelles, and Italy. 1.55pm in Ottawa, 10.55am on the Pacific Coast of North
America.

This is not just about saving 5 minutes worth of electricity; this is about getting the attention of the media, politicians, and ourselves. Five minutes of electrical down time for the planet: this does not take long, and costs nothing, and will show all political leaders that global warming is an issue that needs to come first and foremost in political debate.

Why February 1? This is the day when the new UN report on global climate change will come out in Paris. This event affects us all, involves us all, and provides an occasion to show how important an issue global warming is to us. If we all participate, this action can have real media and political weight.

Just think of every Hi Fi nut turning on his power amps at 7.00 !

All those old power hungrey Exposures !!!

It going to blow the grid !

I don't know, it always seems like 'we' are always being told what to do by theatrical people who go about their normal day using just as much power as the rest of us.

I'd be very happy to install solar panels for electric and water heating, wind turbines, rain water collectors and all, but to do so would cost upwards of £10k, and we're expected to pay for it. Doesn't add any value to your home, etc, etc.

And on top of this, what are the Industry doing hum? We cutting down concrete production, we stopping making glass, etc etc, all use fuel and an alarming rate, no I thought not.

Cynical maybe, I'll start to listen when I start seeing these people leading by example, then maybe, just maybe.

Anyway I don't have a car, so there, there is my bit!

I turned off my amps, cd transport and Pre-amp then had a nap from 6-8pm but I did forget to turn my computer off as I didn't plan of sleeping so long lol!

If they wanted everyone to do this why not announce it on the news?

Fortunately the vast majority of the population never got to hear about this particular piece of empty-minded stupidity...

...and so today we still have a fully functioning power grid.

I was out at the time - and no the shops didn't particpate... ;)

No religeon, it is a case of preserving our enviroment for future generations.
People like you are sellfish and responsible for screwing the place up.

I obviously didn't make myself clear ââ'¬â€œ my objection is to this modern fashion of organised hysteria, coercion and bullying. This is under the guise of political correctness, or political masturbation as a more accurate description.
