Hi All,

My Studio has closed and I am selling off my gear.

I have these stupidly Big and expensive subwoofers for auction. They are way too big for most people, but for the right person these are an unbelievable bargain.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....MESE:IT&viewitem=&item=190057063732&rd=1&rd=1

If you know anyone who might be interested in them please let them know.

More pictures can be seen on my website.

Cheers

David

Wow! Perfect for my room but I'd need to buy amps for them :( Do they have a bypass to use the crossover in my AV Processor?

I thought they were your speakers for sale on choice hi-fi. I'm surprised Gavman doesn't want the main speakers?

You can buy a second hand Krell for £1K that will drive them, or a Crown for even less.

The crossover is completely seperate, so you don't need to use it!

Very sorry to hear this David. Good luck with the sale. Your speakers were quite an experience.

Thanks Dev!

Closing down was not the greatest experience, especially as business was humming and I was doing some interesting work with great people. Still, one has to roll with the punches that life dishes out.

Yeah, I had a few clients who were interested in buying them but hey couldn't get the finance. I listed them on Choice, but have had no response. It is hard to believe that I can't sell £45K worth of speaker for £8K, but anyway I have decided to keep the mains and sell the subs.

:D

Why do you think I am not taking them with me!!!

These are only for the complete NUTTER!

The only sane thing is the price I am letting them go at:)

Actually as there are 2 of them the weight isn't as bad as I thought - about 50KGs each which was the same as my Velodyne HGS18. I'll keep an eye on the listing :)

Just quickly, with regards to the amps, is it a mono channel for each sub unit? So 2 channels in total?

Lastly, I assume the subs don't have to be stacked?

Thanks,
Steve

Hi Steve,

Each Module has a pair of input terminals. Although they can be driven by a single stereo amp as a 1Ohm load, I drove them with a pair of stereo amps as a 2Ohm load. To do this I fed one amp with the left bass signal into both inputs and drove the top module with the left channel and the bottom module with the right channel. The other amp was fed the right channel signal in the same way.

You don't have to have the modules mounted on top of each other, but they were designed to work this way. They called it compression loading: two 12" at the bottom and two at the top firing into each other. These things are way more serious than the subs that came with the Martin Logan Statements. They are also better than the current NOLA Sub towers that are part of the Grand Reference.

So how many power amps would I need to run these.
I've currently got a pair of B&W CDM 9NT's that need biwiring, though I only have one power amp so far. A Rotel RB991 that can send 200 watts@8ohms. Can I just get another one of these?

One old Krell KSA80 or KSA150, or an old Crown Reference will do the job - It needs to be able to drive a 1 Ohm load. Otherwise, a couple of amps that can drive 2 Ohms will do nicely. I doubt the Rotel will do it.
