One very superficial level, you are so right 
they would good with my iPod.
Must say though that an amp like that can be bought for £200 (in a boring black case though) and I suspect that a pair of Wharfedale Diamond9.1 at £200 would see of those speakers so £2000 is a bit steep.
But would still go for it if I had £2000 to spare.
