This came up the other day, don't think I've ever heard it but will be listening later:

    Radio 3, Friday 11 Feb
11.25 TIPPETT Concerto for Double String Orchestra
    Orchestra/Walter Goehr
    NMC NMC D103

Thanks for the heads up. Slight problem. I don't have a Radio and I'm not here today but I have a recording of the work my father gave me in an attempt to educate me. Still don't get Tippett.

The Double String Orchestra concerto is pretty much the only Tippett I 'get' AFAICT, and it's got a particularly gorgeous bluesy slow movement. I'll be involved with putting on Child of our Time in a few months' time though - I'm quite looking forward to that as I've liked what little I've heard of it.
