Hi All!

Ive picked up PB's fabled Beyer 531 headphones in the classifieds :D

Ive spoken to my resident valve modification expert at www.hificollective.com and he can convert one of my inputs into a tape loop.

Where does that leave me ?

Well, what Im looking for is a headphone amp.

Said headphone amp will be fine working from a tape-out.
Said headphone amp will be cheap! (see below)
Said headphone amp would ideally be able to take a direct feed from a discman, I-pod or whatever the hell portable source Im using..... the idea being on holidays - take a discman, portable headphone amp, cans - and have quality sounds in hotels!

Sound quality is very important of course.
Dont care if its Kit, second hand, or new.

How much have I got to spend?

Well I dont really!!

50? 75? if its over 100 Id be well pissed off... this is supposed to be quality headphone music on the cheap..

Ideas anyone?

Also, if anyones a member of 'headfi' would you mind posting my question up?

KIT DETAILS:

CANS - Beyer 531
PRE - Consonance Basie, soon to have a tape loop.

Cheers !! :)
Chris

Thanks hippy :)

nice to have a DIY option.

unfortunately the last time I went DIY on hifi, it took 2 experts 9 hours between them to fix it!!!! :(

lol!

thats true aswell.

still, I could pay a talented chap to make one up for me... what does it sound like by the way?

Cheers bud

Chris, I have an almost unused Creek OBH21 that I was considering selling. Nice amp. Since it's you, I'll let you have it at a bargain price (they're £150 new, and it's only a few months old). I needed a headphone amp at the time, but the preamp I now have has a good headphone amp built in, so it's surplus to requirements. Drop me a PM if you're interested.
