quick amp question

speakers are linn kabers which i like - source digital -

amp question nap 250 or quad 606/707/909
 
Hi and welcome.

Assuming you are feeding the power amp direct from the digital source via its own volume control, you might in some circumstances have issues with a NAP250. Naim NAPs reply on the partnering pre amp NACs to set the correct and safe system bandwidth. A NAP is actually fine in most situations but feed it lots of HF crud out above 20khz and there is a possibility of a problem. The NACs guarantee that this cannot be an issue.

The Quads are fine driven by any source and sound great IMO.

All of those you list are just as good, if sonically no better than the perfectly fine 250 and all will play louder than a 250 into your Kabers, if that is an issue.
 
interesting - im finding the 250/32.5/ hicap great with bass but a little grainy in the midrange and dont seem to cope with complex music very well

just dont have a quad to do an a/b, but eery time ive heard a current dumper have fogotten about the hifi and relaxed and enjoyed the music ....maybe my naim days are over
