Chaps,

I was just enjoying some "tunes" whilst ironing this morning, and thought it would be nice to invite a few fellow Londoners over for an evening of beer/wine/snacks and some good music.

My initial idea was to suggest an evening going through a bunch of Floyd stuff (or similar), though I'm certainly open for suggestions.

(new part to post)

As we have some interest, I'm going to make a few suggestions for the evening:
- Proposed date is Friday the 29th of Oct, start time 7pm, to wrap up at 11pm (don't want to upset the neighbours too much)
- No hardware changes are planned for the evening. This will be just about listening to some good music and having a few beers with like minded people. Lets leave the hardware fun for a bakeoff.
- I'm going to suggest that we alternate around on music choices, i.e each person picking a couple of tracks, before moving to the next person. I don't care about what you chose, that's upto you, but I'd prefer no requests for "Oh superman" or rap.
- I'm going to need to limit the attendees to a max of 7. I live in 2 bedroomed flat in London, so it's not huge. I think I can set up 2 rows of 4 seats fairly comfortably.
- I'll supply some drinks/snacks, but if you want to bring some along, feel free
- My system is rather "flat", ie. Naim CD5i, 82/hicap, 200, Linn Kabers, REL Q100 sub, electronics on Mana. If you really hate Naim sounds, please just don't bother popping along. I'm hoping to have a nice evening, not trying to explain that my personal preference is for a more boppy kind of sound as against better tonal colours. I'm fully aware of my system limitations and am happy with the compromises I've made.
- Can proposed attendees please PM me to confirm their attendance. I'll reply back with my address/contact details for the evening

I can't believe you've had no response to this  So here's a bump. I'd like to attend but I don't drink and would be boring company. I like Pink Floyd though.

I like drinking but I'd rather saw my own head off than listen to Pink Floyd for more than a couple of minutes.

Drink - check!

Floyd - check!

London - check - but only this Friday. D'oh - but I'm seeing Dark Soho at the Coronet (only two years in the waiting)...

Wish I'd not moved out of Reading sometimes, when something like this pops up!

The Floyd idea was only a "potential" option, I'm definitely up for other suggestions.

The key point I was trying to get to was to simply invite over some vaguely local few z'gainers to have a listen to some music. I was hoping to avoid the potential for spending the whole evening changing over mains leads.

Any up for it?

Can I register a provisional interest. Although I live in NW London I actually work in Rotherhithe so not far away !

And nowt wrong with FLoyd !!

It sounds kewl! I am in Gravesend, Kent but often end up in London on a Saturday so I will say maybe? Would you want an 18yr old around or would I just cramp your style?

i'd be up for it. floyd is fine by me but if you can widen the appeal by broadening the musical remit then go for it. don't drink though and snacks are limited (but i can bring my own weird dietary stuff if necessary). saturday preferred to friday. not the 30th (or 9th).
cheers

julian.

I'm in Greenwich to live and Rotherhithe'ish to work and listen, so a short hop, yes please. Be happy to arrange a return visit later. Is Classical music allowed? If you all start swapping cables about I'm outta there!

PS Do you have Dark Side of the Moon or shall I bring it?

Does anyone NOT have a copy of DSOTM? :D

Errr... me :duck: . Having heard a bit of Floyd on WM's system recently I will be getting my hands on some fairly soon though.

Hi
I'd be interested too.
I don't mind Floyd but I'm happy to bring other stuff too

Andrew

Michael, it was a bit tongue in cheek - although I do only have it once on very scratchy vinyl.

I have it twice on CD and three times on record

I had a vinyl copy that I melted into a bowl shape to use as an ashtray when I was a student.

I could bring some Syd Barrett records, much more like it.

Even better, the Zorn Hemophiliac birthday thing, which has the ability to make heads explode.
