just to note thanks to Alanbeeb for coming round to my house last night and demonstrating what I regret to report was a discernible difference in sound quality!

we hesitated about using the term 'organic', or at least I did as I thought that was what i had already achieved.

Our sternest test was the 'Dick Gaughan Effect'. Not only could we hear what he was singing - that was plain with Ncode, and greatly enhanced with the addition of the BC evo4 - but he had beguiling texture: we could almost feel his Arran sweater!

I second JJ's post. Most interested in finding out about said Foo Foo......

Cheers,

John.

Actually, I do know what it is (ahem). Just wanted others to clarify in their own words on what's the secret magic in it... :D

Lord,
Yes it is, and very fine it works too.

<edit to add>
I was fortunate enough to hear the mark 2 version (i believe it was mark 2 anyway?), it really is rather special.
I always use my beloved as a judge, she told me to sort it out and get one ;)

Of course I knew that WM was its creator, but had it been Russ Andrews (or some such) and it seemed to have positive effect, then we would want to discuss it here - wouldn't we?

So how do we tempt WM/RA to come out of his closet ...

What's the secret?

Simple really Ditton. I construct equipment that works, by using my ears and science.
Nothing is let out for retail until it passes the Wm seal of approval, those that know me know I have most exacting and high standards.
The Power master that Alan has is the MKII, the same as Penance heard.
"It just lets the music flood out" ;)
I'm afarid how it exactly works with have to remain cloaked sorry.
Now, I could wet your appitite further, by saying I may have created a B/C slayer  More in a the fullness of time. Wm

Folks - just a word to say I was very sceptical about mains treatment, and decided to try W-M's box after hearing from several different sources that digital amps e.g. Bel Canto and my TacT benefit greatly from it. I could have gone after a 2nd hand Hydra or Audio Magic box but the chance to home audition was too important.

As I was unpacking it I was careful to save the packaging as I was almost certain I would be sending it back after a chance to confirm my belief that the improvement would be tiny or imaginary.

And I think the packaging will remain tucked in a corner of the garage for a very long time...

I have been toying with getting some kind of mains conditioner, almost bought an exdem Iso-8 MinSub2 off ebay yesterday but I had second thoughts since I am saving for a new boiler and a pair of Monblocs.

I have tried a few products from RA and not noticed much of a difference, admittedly, I mainly tried a Yello extension and powerlead. I have got an Acoustic Zen Tsunami powerlead though which made quite a difference to the CD8X CD player.

I think I will go down the conditioner route since I have been told, not sure if it is right or wrong, that the leads from the conditioner to the equipment aren't so important. This may work out cheaper that buying a decent lead for each unit too.

What are other peoples experiences with this? I know this can often be a tetchy subject, if you feel strongly that they make no difference, then just say that in your opinion you didn;t notice any difference, no wars pease! Or I will start asking about cables :p

Cheers,

John.

I'm using a FooFoo and will be upgrading it to the newer v2.0 version very soon.

I found it made number of improvements to my system. Things that improved were a better sense of timing, (it seemed to separate the layers of music thus giving a notion of slowing things down!) other improvements were a greater perceived depth in bass and slightly better imaging.

Your experiences may vary, but compared to a couple of more expensive toys the FooFoo worked better for me, (and it has a better name and doesn't take up another place in your rack)
