One of the really Great Phono Stages from Tom Evans and seldom seen second hand.
This the High Resolution version - supremely better than the ordinary ISO
The Iso HR is a top-of-the-line phono from a fair few years ago from Michell; it retailed for £900 in 1993. The HR is the High Resolution version, and the Hera is the additional power supply that upgrades it (you got the Iso with just a wall-wart as standard). The Hera is regarded as a rather special PSU
It was designed by Tom Evans, who has gone on to produce some high-end phono stages based on this (see http://www.walrus.co.uk/tomevans/tomevans.htm ), which now retail for £1,900 and up.
It is currently set up for a low output MC cartridge - works superbly with a Lyra Lydian and Ortofon Kontrapunkt B : 0.4 ; it is adjustable by sending it to Michell to have some component changes if you need to change the loading; it could also be undertaken by Tom Evans or Trichord (who manufactured it in the first place). This adjustment is so that it has the right gain and impedance loading.
There are some glowing reviews online, but in their buying guide HiFi World describe is as "Perhaps too good for some record collections. Extremely revealing." - see http://www.hi-fiworld.co.uk/hfw/bgphonostages.html
There's one for sale at a dealer at £546 (Google and you'll see availability) they do not come up for sale very often.
Condition? The Iso looks perfect, while the PSU has a couple of scratches.
I've had a few of these - I have always gone back to them as they are so very very good - I preferred this to the expensive Groove.
