Well there is a baked bean thread so why not!

I went to Tesco to get some bits to make dinner and I saw a bottle that looked interesting. 'Ginger Wine' it was only about £2.50 so I got it. Its pretty nice! Its a bit like southern comfort but Gingery! Anyone tried it, likes it?

What other interesting wines have you had? I always wanted to try strawberry wine but never seen it around.

as in Whiskey Mac, designed to warm during long cold nights. Stone's and Crabbies are the brand leaders. It seems to me that you have a sweet alchopop tooth that you will have to temper, unless you want to go folksy and try Elderberry Wine, Dandeline Hock - contact local WI or farmer's market. next stop is all forms of country dancing ...

I can highly recomend you trying some of these Scottish wines. They are made not too far away from my home, ( about 20 miles) over in Perthshire.
Pretty strong stuff too, I think my wife and I have tried all of them, although not for a while now, I'm more of a summer wine drinker. The Strawberry and Spring Oak leaf ones being favorites...

I don't really like Alco-pops much. I just like trying new things. I like dry red most, but strawberries are really nice so I have always wanted to try a wine made from them. (Ever since Homer had some on the Simpson's ;) )

The ginger wine is nice on its own, but because it is so strongly flavored I don't drink loads. So thats good!

Sid, I will definitely order a few things from there! (ain't no wine clinking smiley!)

Edit: Just orderd - Strawberry, Raspberry, Elderberry & Spring Oak Let the funny wine drinking begin!

I'll second that Oak Leaf one, surprisingly tasty! (Oh and how come you missed Tayport off that list?)

Wine arrived yesterday!

Drank the Strawberry... quite nice but had an odd taste. Dead yeast I think. Still not bad, went in one evening!

Just tried a sip of the Raspberry.. Oh baby! :D I like this one!

Haven't tried the others yet.

Whats it like to be drunk?

Ask a glass of water...

... and on to the Elderberry...

mmm its like a normal wine but with a much nicer and more bitter aftertaste. There seem to be more layers of different flavours than a red grape wine. It also has none of that acidic attack that comes with a cheaper wine. Its really smooth but without it being fake glycerine. Reminds me quite a lot of a really expensive £50 a bottle wine lol!

Oh dear I am developing more expensive hobbies!

Sounds good. Wait until you get on to the Oak Leaf one! It tasted a bit like elderberry's but still quite fruity when I had it. The labels are quite amusing, "...good with fish, meat, cheese and on their own, probably." :)

the wine that whenever i see raises a smile is a cheap red, probably bordeaux or vin de pay d'oc, is a tesco brand that luxiorieates under the name ' Great with steak'. I think they also do a chianti or a vallpicella called fittingly 'perfect with pasta'.
This is lewisham branch so that might have something to do with it.
