great footy result!

Forget about these little teams in their little league!

Celtic beating Barcelona 1-0! That's where it's at :)

Anyone heard porto's managers comments about Celtic over the last few days? Tosser!!!

Hanven't heard what he said, but you're right. He's a tosser :)

He and all Porto fans are so loving the fact they put Man U out of the Champions League it's really starting to get irritating. I hope that Lyon give them the drubbing they deserve.

Incidentally, no-one in Portugal likes FC Porto except for Porto supporters (obviously). Sporting supporters like myself are happy to see Porto get beaten even if it's a foreign team :MILD:

SOunds just like Man Utd then :D

I was there and to all you Manure fans....

:moony:

You know the Rags dug out the old Keegan 'I'd love it' tape and turned it into a fake interview on their official website. Well how stupid do they look now

There's an MU sponsered phone line in Manchester at present to help any fans who can't cope. the numbers 0845 won nothing won nothing won nothing:D

Having been a Chelsea fan for almost 10 years now, I hope all those ManUre fans don't ditch Rude Van Whistlepump and friends to start 'following' the mighty Chelski.

It could be worse though - they could be Scousers :D .

Man U's recent problems show, IMO, how much the miss Beckham. You can bet they would still be in the Champions League if they'd had Becks.

Christiano Ronaldo is good but he's no Beckham.....yet ;)

I dunno, I think Beckham is way overrated, his public persona apart.

True he does work very hard, but all he really does is cross the ball, take free kicks and corners. He just embodies the english hoof it up to someone and hope it finds them spirit. Yes what he does he does very well.
But he is slow, and doesn't really take people on much, I would like to see a more aggressive dribbling Beckham than a hoof it on whenever danger comes near. I prefer the pass and create style as opposed to a long ball over the top, IMHO this was one of the reasons England was ineffectual, it just ran straight into the defence rather than creatively getting around them.

god knows why he married that talentless wife of his, he does have a lot more than she does, she is a nobody, just an average girl who thinks she is more than she is and was a bit part of the successful group manufactured by someone else, and is floundering like a fish on her own. I think she married him for the boost.

I think you've seriously underrated Beckham as a player. Have you watched any Real Madrid games recently? He just holds the whole midfield together.

He does the same for England. He's the glue that binds the rest of the team together. He always knows where to pass to and his passes (even very long ones) are unbelievably accurate.

He's not quite in the same league as Zidane maybe but he's that kind of key player that every team needs...Real has two!

I don't have any issues with his personal life. It's none of my business anyway :)

I'd lay my opinion on Beckham somewhere between the two here. He's good, but not the absoulte god the eng-er-lish press media would have you believe. He works hard and his passing/crossing/set piece taking is as good as any. He does what he does very well, but doesn't really do much besides it. I think it was George Best who said along the lines of "he can't head, he can't dribble, he's only got one foot...." etc etc....

I think the player UTD miss the MOst is Stam! If they'd have kept him and the Rio Ferdinand situation hadn't happened then they'd have been in a MUCH better position IMO. I think Rio is over rated too, but the basics are there, and playing alongside Stam would have helped bring him along.

I think Fergie will be gone in the Summer, and I wouldn't be suprised to see Martin O'Neil step into his place. I think it's pretty muc accepted MO'N is one of (if not THE), best young managers around. The way his contract is set up with Celtic makes it look likely.

One of the papers was apparantly carrying a story about Fergie going to Rangers in a £2-£3 Million take over. The Consortium looking to take over were hoping to put him in charge.

Not sure if you seen Celtic's glorious win over Barcelona :D

At half time there was a bit of a scuffle in the tunnel apparantly. It's still not clear what happened. Just before the brake Bobo Balde and one of the Barca players went for a ball and Balde took a bit of an uppercut for his efforts. I think this carried over into the tunnel. Our Keeper stepped in to brake it up, but this was all the ref seen and ended up red carding the barca player, and our keeper! Saviloa was sent off also, not long into the second half. Apparantly he's not normaly a dirty player, but his red was deserved (kicked a player when he was on the ground after being beaten in a tackle and the ball had since been passed on).

Yes Celtic are an aggresive team. That's a MO'N trademark. Strong players, mixed with the flair ones. But I wouldn't say we're dirty. Barca were lucky not to have Reiziger sent off too. He was booked for a bad challange which followed several other not so bad ones. Then not long after done the same thing but went unpunished! He was took off not long after, you'd assume to avoid a red.

Anyhow......... a mini war of words has started. Nothing much really. And along comes Porto's manager  Saying how this doesn't suprise him at all as celtic are an aggressive team (yep, i'd agree), but then went on about how un sporting and basicaly crap Celtic are! :JOEL: And how pants we were in the UEFA cup final! Yes Porto are a good team, but IMO we were VERY unlucky not to win beat them in the cup final! And for him to comment on us being un sporting after their diving, time wasting, bitching to the ref, and generaly cynical aproach to the game! GRRR!!!

Perhaps I take it a little too personal :D

I'd say Porto was an agressive team. They rely on fouling and ridiculous play acting after being fouled. Roy Keane shouldn't have put his foot on Baia (the Porto keeper) in the first Man U game but the way that Baia milked it for all it was worth was so cynical

Sounds like Roy Keane would fit right in then, and Robbie Savage, and who could forget Alan Shearer. His century late tackle on the aforementioned Savage a few years ago is probably the worst I've ever seen, save for Paul Elliott/Dean Saunders and whoever it was terminated that Coventry player at Old Trafford a few years back.

Martin o; Neill? Yawn...I used to like him, and he talks sense, but now as soon as he opens his gob I start to get itchy fingers on the remote...he's soooo boring!!

Don't get me wrong, what Beckham does is very good, posssibly the best there is, but it is limited.

zidane, OMG what a god!!! what a joy to watch at his best:)

Ferguson complaining about the Portuguese diving and fouling was the ultimate hypocricy and if Stam had stayed they'd have had 2 players out over drugs wouldn't they?
