Happy Birthday. I'm sure you'll celebrate in a suitable mana ;)

In fact if you place your birthday cake atop a few levels the candles will probably burn brighter and taller!

Happy birthday, James - better slow down, or you'll catch up on me  When your sons start asking you (as do my daughters) in a pitying sort of voice, "Is that a 50 year-old joke, Dad?", you'll know you're in trouble...

    Skye, eh?
I'll be there quite soon for part of my honeymoon, with some Wester Ross and Torridon thrown in for added dampness...
    Oh, and good bidet etc.

    Too late!
But we did spend a second mortgage on a meal at the Three Chimneys near Dunvegan... Well worth it's "14th best in the world" tag - though I haven't tried any of the others!

We considered going there, but didn't because I'm too tight.

We took a nice boat trip from Dunvegan Castle to see the seals, who were sweet.

    Fair enough...
It was £80 a head, which included a bottle of '96 reserve Rioja, 2x G&Ts, a Black Elyssium Muscat and an Armagnac.
Oh, and the food - best scallops I've ever had plus perfect 2" lump of fillet steak and "famous" marmalade pud.
Not cheap - but at least as good as other Michelin-starred restaurants I've been to. Beats the Ivy by miles!
And as for Dunvegan, was disappointed by the castle, apart from the oubliette. Doing a short round of the Cuillin was much better fun, and value.
