Happy birthday Mike!

I'm sure you've been 37 for a few years now. Trying to keep below 40?

Which one did you get?
A3 1.9TDI, the version with 130bhp and a 6spd box. 130bhp is the declared power for the sake of German taxes, it's actually closer to 145hp from the factory. The other day a chap with a laptop and a cable connected to the diganostic connector 'breathed' on the ECU Mapping and it's up to around 175bhp now :torkmada: I'm getting wheelspin in 3rd now though which is a bit silly so I need to sort out fatter tyres (which means some new alloys too but I wanted to change them anyway as I don't particularly like the ones it came with). Probably go for the standard 6 spoke TT alloys.

Oh...and I still get 50+ mpg out of it ...and diesel is much cheaper than petrol over here :)

Michael.

happy birthday michael. that's a nice car - i'd be happy with one if i didn;t need the load carrying ability of my kiddie bus.
cheers

They might be now, but on the original TT they were 6 spokers like these (see attached image). I need the 16" ones not the 17" ones (in Portugal, as in Germany, the car's logbook specifies the size and type of wheels and tyres allowed for the car and for my car the max is 16" - I could get that changed but it's a right PITA and not worth the hassle).

Michael.

That is a lot considering the 2.0 GTI Golf MK4 delivers 115bhp.

My mates 206 2.0 GTI only delivers 135bhp although the 206 is quite a bit lighter then the A3, I suppect the A3 engine works though unlike the 206 :D

all the best - feel honoured as I seldom say anything in these kind of threads... ;)
