I was going to buy a new dvd from the richers website, having been down to the shop, none are in stock.

I try to add the bloody thing to my basket, and it says, lots in stock, ring your local store. None in stock, delivery in 2 weeks.

I can't even buy mail order from a website now!! WTF is going on?

Maybe its a conspiracy, Ive been trying to order a potentiometer from hificollective. Thier new order system wont recognise my postal county and keeps defaulting to Ayreshire:confused:
Ah well, thier loss i guess.

What county is Bristol in? When I was living in Bath I had this problem as technically,as I understood it, it wasn't in any county. Avon no longer exists I believe, which is probably your problem, but I don't think Bath was actually in Somerset either! Just about the only benefit I can think of of my move to Southampton is that I now do know what county I live in!

Bristol is city and county, so address should be city = Bristol and county = Bristol. Avon was abolished a few years ago and we returned to the way it use to be.

Closest to me would be South Gloucester, but they havent got that either:rolleyes:

Isnt Bath in Wiltshire?

Richer Sounds advertising products that they don't actually have in stock? Surely not.

My local store still claims they have 6 Servo 15's in the 'warehouse' and if I'm prepared to wait the magical 2 weeks, I can have one. Unless the 'warehouse' is actually a cleverly timed eBay assault, I'm not sure they're being 100% straight with me.

Nope. Or at least I don't think so. When I used to drive home from Bath uni to Bradford-on-Avon, which is in Wiltshire, I always passed a "Welcome to Wiltshire" sign anyway. Oh, and there isn't a sign going the other way welcoming you to a different county. When internet companies forced me to give a county for Bath I always went for Somerset. The council in Bath is "Bath and North East Somerset" anyway, so it's more affiliated to Somerset than Wiltshire I think.

in fact, stuff it, if Julian Richer is watching, your stupid website and whoever is running it has just lost you a sale, its so ridiculous I am going elsewhere to spend my money, I wanted to buy it off a website, not have to go to a blasted shop.

edited to add: ordered one from unbeatable, no probs., RS out of stock around london, too, so the website is a travesty, tells you to go to the shop, out of stock can't buy from website....is that normal? wesites saying go to the shop? sounds like a joke to me...what's the point of the website?

not really had probs. with other websites for ordering.

Bath is now in the county of 'Bath And North East Somerset'. Really trips off the tongue doesn't it? :D

The western half of Avon appears to have become 'North Somerset'.

Both of these new counties are nothing to do with 'Somerset' (thank goodness :D )

Bristol is now a city/county like London and Birmingham (and a few others - I can't remember which ones).

Bristol always was city&county until the abomination of Avon arose, no one in Bristol took notice of Avon ;)

Anyway, had a mail from Hificollective to say they have amended the ordering system, nice to see some decent customer support.

British websites are always a trevesty especially for ordering stuff. The number of times you go through an order form only to have it crash on the Submit stage is typical. Must be costing UK E-Commerce millions.

Never really had a problem myself. Not with British websites or any other nationality ones for that matter.

Michael.

I agree with Michael. The only time I've had problems buying online with UK websites is when ordering concert tickets at the time they're released, which does cause (understandable) problems... just as it's impossible to get through using standard channels, like the telephone.

I recently had a real time of it buying Green Day tickets but it worked after a little bit of patience.

That's what I was referring to! Those 'adverts' have popped up a few times on the HFC BB and tend to stay a while. I hope the order system maintenance is a bit better than that of their BB!

Yeah, that's the real problem area when it comes to internet shopping. These ticket agencies hype the tours up something mega before they go onsale, then usually put 2 or 3 shows that would each stretch the resources on their own, on sale at the same time. Then comes meltdown, and they wonder why people get a bit angry when the system doesn't work.
