Pink Floyd used Holophonics on The Final Cut back in the early 80s. There's a bit in it where you are in a bar. Shut your eyes and the bar is all around you in 3D sound - glasses clinking, people chatting, people playing pool. As a 15 year old who had just acquired a Sony Walkman II, I was very,very impressed.
