Hi guys.

I am new to this forum and am looking for a little feedback on what I intend changing in my system.

Presently I have a Marantz 63 ki sig CD, Original Audiolab 8000 lx and 8000 px power amp. These are rigged to bi-amp a pair of Celestion A1 stand mounts.
Cables are all van den hul.
I have this in a small spare room measuring 10ft sqaure.
My music taste varies but tends more towards Jazz. I tend not to listen to much classical. I also like older artists such as Sadie & Donald Fagan.
I generally get pleasure from listening to good recordings of female vocals & band interplay.

I am currently re-kitting my listening room with a move from carpet to laminate floor and in general a more minimalist look.

I am cosidering a change of CD player to either a Rega Saturn or Naim CD 5i - 2 and am wondering what diiference I am likely to hear through these amps.
I dont want to approach any dealers as yet as I would prefer to audition these at home. I will do this once I have completed the re-organisation of my listening room.

Has anyone compared these units or had any issues with them.

quite a marked difference. The Saturn and Naim 5 where among the list of CD players I tried when I was changing mine. The list also included Linn, Copland, Quad and few others.
I bought the saturn, as I felt it had a better overall sound that balanced out the detail within the music, the flow and timing, and the toneality of voice and instruments very well.

Getting them into your listening room is bay far the best way to ensure you get the sound you want.

Hi and thanks for your reply.
As I said I would rather wait until everything is set up in the room before orgainising a demo. Its kind of holding me back and a bit of a bitch to be honest.

Did you have any operating issues with the Saturn or do you think Rega have ironed these out ?

Operating Issue's,

well yes, but they have more to do with The Mcallan than the Saturn. It goes through a pre play cycle thing, and takes a little longer to load than some CD players. It very, very occasionally comes up with a disc read error. Lifting and shutting the lid clears it.
