Hi, I've just found this board and am posting because I need some help. My old headphones are falling apart and I don't know which to replace them with, although I do know the specifications I need, please can you advise me.

I would prefer closed back circum-aural headphones but they must be comfortable and go down as far as 5Hz - I am using binaural beat meditation CDs and this is the requirement they suggest. My budget is limited, up to £30-40 but I don't mind second hand.

I was thinking of Sennheiser HD280 (from Ebay) but then realised they only go down to 8Hz. Other options are Technics RP-DJ1200or 1210 or Sony MDR V700DJ but I haven't read many reviews about either and would appreciate your opinions.

There are not many headphones that go down that deep I am afraid. You also might try the Sony closed headphones. Underrated, but very good!

I don't want to send you somewhere else but...

They only talk about headphones, so they should be able to help you out nicely.

You could try sennheisser HD 212Pro's - They are cheap and cheerful with plenty of bass (too much for me though) I have a pair but I prefer my AKG K301s even tho TV breakthrough can be a problem!!

    question? why 5hz?

am i missing something here? humans cant hear that low... you wont feel any vibration as you would with a big sub trying to go that low... so why is it needed?

i know of few humans that have any real hearing below about 22hz if even that. So id seriously question anyones need for less than 15-20

There is something to be said about responces above and below the threshold of hearing ...its to do wih harmonics and resonances ...but I've been very happy with my dt 990 and dt 911 . Though they are now rather long in the tooth both provide very good performance from my varrious headphone amps.

The Beyers are also GREAT! They combine well with the new Musical Fidelity headphone amp.
