Hope you can help, I've recently bought a pair of JBL LSR4328P for a bargain price, my aim is to build a HiFi for under a ton, but we'll see how we go

The basic idea is that I already have some cables , some speaker stands and I also have a CD spinner in the form of an old Pioneer DVD player, which will do for now, the aim is simply to get it to make music pretty well - I can add to it later.

However I've never heard the JBL so have no idea how they sound or what amp's JBL pair well with. As it stands I have around £50 to play with to find the missing amp, could you suggest anything that pairs well with JBL ideally already on eBay (though I can search myself no worries) .

Judging from your post, I don't think you realise what you have in the JBL LSR4328P.

They are active speakers, which means they already have very good amps built in to them. Adding to that, they have some room corrective EQ facilities to get better bass (probably need to connect a computer to set it up).

They should also come with a remote control that can adjust volume, among other things, and they can take a digital input directly.

All you need to do is connect the S/PDIF digital stereo output from your DVD player, or any CD player and away you go with an awsome system.

Sounds like you could do with a in depth read of the manual. They are an incredibly capable product, but that does mean they are quite complex too.

    what he said.

I'd save up for a cd player with a built in volume control, as I believe the speakers dont have this feature - may become a pain in the ass after a while.

This needn't cost that much there are second hand ones that will do it for you.

Yes, I think you have the makings of a rockin' system there.

I'm still looking for a second hand pair of the JBL model preceding yours (LSR28P).

How much did you pay for the 4328P's? :)

According to what I read, they do, and via remote too. Those speakers are almost a complete hi-fi!

I'd certainly choose these over those ADM9's from AVI, lol!

Those silly LED's and buttons really put me off the new LSR range.

I like the simpler baffle used on the LSR28P. JBL used a carbon-fibre front baffle until they realised they were way too slow/expensive to make. Those things really look mean.:)

I only mention it because, over on PFM, the manufacture of the ADM9 likes to make quite a few over-inflated statements about them! ;)

I thought it strange that someone would buy a pair of active DSP speakers worth about £800, and then not know what they had bought and only have £50 for an amp õ.O

It might be on of these cloned humanoid robots I've been hearing all about on PFM?

In that case, dear Chrissai, I retract my veritable advice and reccomend you pair the JBL speakers with DCS Scarlatti 3 box cd player, and use a hose pipe for interconnects.

    bloody robots!
