For sale my very much treasured 300b power amp.Probably the best amp I have ever owned but time for a change.JJ Meshplate valves fitted with about 150 hours use.Left and right channel boards upgraded with Mungdorf, audionote paper in oils and Mills resisitors.A truly great amp.

Price £750, postage charge will be approximately £30 by parcelforce.I will confirm this once appropriate boxes and packaging has been obtained as it weighs about 22-23kg so probably about 25kg boxed.

Cheque, postal order or paypal(last preference) Hopefully some photos attached.I have manual/ build instructions.Built by me but was checked by Nick himself.

Someone tell me if this links have worked if not I can e mail pictures.

ditto.

I wouldnt sell mine that cheaply - if I was selling it - which I'm not! :)

I was trying to make it an attractive price but what I think it is worth to what I may get are two different things. I have come across very few valve amps that are as good as this. A sessionm once with about 12k worth of Border Patrol ccomes to mind . However it has to go. Regard to Mungdorf caps I'll check the invoice but if I get a chance I'll check HIFI Collective site and remind myself .

I cant find the list of ugrades I made but I believe the Mundorf were silver in oil but when I get a chance I'll take the bottom off and look.Is it important or are you upgrading one as well?

@colin: out of curiousity, what are you upgrading to?

@others: anyone had a chance to hear this against other respected kits like ladyday etc?

I wouldnt say its an upgrade more of a change in direction.Having had valve amps for the last 10 years I have decided on a change.I tried out some speakers and decided I very much liked Audiophysic Sparks, they are fine with the 300b but you can tell the 300b is being pushed a wee bit too much and on complex or particularly dynamic pieces it is struggling. So I have installed a Lyngdorf power amp and I have to say I am really impressed with it.I was listening to some solo piano last night with the wick turned up and the new amp is really getting a better response and control from the speakers. So not so much an upgrade as a change.I tried several speakers from Audionote es to Living voice and they didnt do it for me so amp has gone. Can always build another./alternative, something to do in the future!!

Anub, I've had a load of valve amps, and this 300b amp is really good, underrated gem.

Audionote transformers, a case big enough to put pretty much anything in it you want, and a circuit design by Andy Grove of AudioNote.

A little birdy tells me the design will soon be unavailable as DIY, and only available (at much higher cost, with some mods made) from stores.

A safe purchase, as much as anything is.

Oh, it looks superb in the flesh with the copper top and solid aluminium front too.

I've had 2 of them :)

just checked the original website, yes it seems like a proper design (meaning no evil 6SN7 as drivers, can't stand that!).... would be great if i would have a chance to hear it with my (very demanding speakers, at least in a sense of bass control these amps so often lack)... unfortunately too far away....

yes certainly, considering 114db sensitivity. however it's a bass system they have that needs an amp with a decent control as there are 2 15" drivers in each box in PP-PP configuration. plus my room is small and i'm on the edge of having them too close to the walls - no space to pull them more into the room - so seriosly an amp is not allowed to fault there (actually it's better to roll earlier than to go deep with less control).
however the main thing is this would be a third amp on my shelf.... though it wouldn't be for the first time;)
