Don't know if you've seen this before or not:

http://www.everyhit.com/dates/index.html

Whack in your date of birth and hit 'find' to see what topped the singles and album charts.

Mine take a bit of beating:

The Number 1 single was:
The Bee Gees - "Massachusetts"

The Number 1 album was:
Beatles - "Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band"

It tells me that I also share my birthday with Peter Green.

Matt.

The Number 1 single was:
Engelbert Humperdinck - "The Last Waltz"

The Number 1 album was:
Beatles - "Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band"

Number One: Dexy's Midnight Runners - "Come On Eileen"

Numbner one album: Kids From "Fame" - "The Kids From Fame"

The best bit is though Leane Rymes was born on the day I was born. I always thought she was in her late 20's by now, it makes me feel old that I am exactly the same age as her.

There's some really bad stuff here:

On 12th Nov 1978 ...

The Number 1 single was:
John Travolta & Olivia Newton John - "Summer Nights"

The Number 1 album was:
Original Soundtrack - "Grease"

and some very cool as well.

Born on 12th Nov:
1940 - Screaming Lord Sutch ( deceased )
1944 - Booker T. Jones ( keyboard player with Booker T And The MGs )
1945 - Neil Young ( guitarist, pianist, vocalist; solo and with Buffalo Springfield/ Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young )

The Number 1 single was:

WHO THE FUDGE are Windsor Davies & Don Estelle??? Maybe they should have smoked the grass rather than whispered it - then someone might remember them. At least Dr Hook's "I got stoned and I missed it" came out the same year - he he.

Muff - uh huh huh huh huh! I thought he played in dIRE sTRAITS once as well???

Michael Jackson's "Thriller" (LP) AND "Billie Jean" were at number one the day CD was born in the UK though... Wasn't "Thriller" also one of the first CDs issued???

As they didn't keep track of record sales until the early 1950s, the question is not relevant for me! Its antediluvian equivalent was probably something by Dame Vera Lynn!

On 13th Jun 1963 ...

The Number 1 single was:
The Beatles - "From Me To You"

The Number 1 album was:
Beatles - "Please Please Me"

Born on 13th Jun:
1943 - Esther Ofarim ( vocalist with duo Esther & Abi Ofarim )
1949 - Dennis Locorriere ( guitarist, Dr Hook )
1969 - Soren Rasted ( Aqua )
1976 - Jason Brown ( vocalist, 5ive )

I like the Beatles and have made a few quid out of flogging their albums (inc a black / gold PPM), so no worries there, but Aqua and 5ive... give me a break!

Tony.

He he - the girl from Aqua is a total goddess though :) Glad you didn't "diss" Dr Hook :) (actually, I only like a couple of their tracks but...)

Nope - never seen "It ain't 'alf hot, mum", and now I know it's some crappy TV spinoff song, there's no way in hell I want to hear that "Whispering grass" track either - uuugh.

Re "Salt" from Salt n Peppa - no wander I fancied the pants off all of them in 1988 then - if they were all 19 :) (I was 13) Mmmm....

For the 17th of September 1973:

The Number 1 single was:
Wizzard - "Angel Fingers"

The Number 1 album was:
Rolling Stones - "Goat's Head Soup"

Born on 17th Sep:
1923 - Hank Williams ( deceased )
1968 - John Penney ( vocalist, Neds Atomic Dustbin )
1969 - Adam Devlin ( guitarist, The Bluetones )
1969 - Keith Flint ( vocalist, The Prodigy )
1973 - Anastacia ( full name Anastacia Newkirk )

I've never heard of this 'Wizzard' group before, however I'm happy for the 'Stones association. May have to dig out the best of Hank CD tonight and tomorrow find out more about Miss Newkirk... ;-)

Now I need to find an equivalent site for the Australian charts. Found one years ago but have lost the bookmark. Have a feeling Helen Reddy was on top of the charts with 'Delta Dawn' that day.

Wizzard is the band that Roy Wood was in, he of the cheesy Christmas song I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday.

Hi

On 23rd Jan 1965 ...

The Number 1 single was:
Georgie Fame & The Blue Flames - "Yeh Yeh"

The Number 1 album was:
Beatles - "Beatles For Sale"

Born on 23rd Jan:
1910 - Django Reinhardt ( jazz guitarist )
1948 - Anita Pointer ( the Pointer Sisters )
1950 - Pat Simmons ( guitarist, vocalist, The Doobie Brothers )
1953 - Robin Zander ( lead vocalist, Cheap Trick )

I own a copy of that single & album. I also have music by the people listed who were born on my birthday.

Hi Dom,

'It ain't half hot mum' was a popular sit-com in the 70s. It was written by Jimmy Perry & David Croft, who wrote Dads Army. It was set in 2nd World War India. It was based on an army concert party, who were sent there to entertain the troops. Full of, not very, subtle stereotypes.

Winsor Davies played the Sargent Major who was an old army hand who was in charge of "a load of puffs". These "puffs" included Don Estelle as Gunner "lofty" Sudgen. He played a very short fall guy. There was also a camp cross dressing soldier, a tall gormless soldier, an educated well spoken soldier who was a private, a burly scotsman, a gready guts soldier and some airhead upper class twits as officers. There was a white actor darken up to play a Indian in a turban. There were a couple of authentic Indians who played some comdey stereotype stooges. The show was very popular & ran from 1974 to 1981.

I must admit I used to watch it in the early days, before I knew any better.

I've done this before and had different results! I'm sure I got Blondie "Atomic" last time!

You might want to double check...

Rather irritatingly the site has a bug.

Mine should be

Beatles - I want to hold your hand (14 Dec 1963 to 17 Jan 1964)

but when I put my d/o/b/ 14/1/64 the next number one is given "Glad all over" by the Dave Clark 5.

e.g. MO - yours should be Atomic by Blondie see
http://www.everyhit.com/number4.html

I hope there is a similar bug that mans I don't actually share my birthday with Billie Jo Spears.
