Hi

ive recently lost my music loving father in-law and have been asked by his wife to sort her loft out.

I have found a few vintage amps and a turn table.

The Quad ii amplifier x2
Leak sterio70 amplifier
Leak steriofetic FM tuner
Leak TL/12 plus amplifier x2
Creek OBH-8mm phone pre-amplifier
Chapman 306 sterio Amplifier
Garrard 401 turntable
+ lots of spares, fuses, lamps etc.

I have rang a few companies within the West Midlands who have put me intouch with a company in Birmingham.
Sadly they are not tesponding to my emails.

i was wondering if anybody could help me sell these or atleast advise in what to do, as i see they are expensive and sought after items online.

Thanks in advance

Welcome.

I have copied your list to a couple of folk who may be able to help, but I make no promises.

Your father-in-law would be pleased to know his vintage hifi has gone to good homes.

Don't let those items go for a song.

Thank you Labarum

sadly i am very new to this kind of thing aswell as the items.
I do have puctures, if required.

thank you again, very much appreciated

The amplifiers are indeed distinguished.
Now , if they are working, your selling price
Will be high.
Ideally the amplifiers should be brought to life slowly using a variac.
This device applies voltage slowly, .
This is a safe method.
The amps can be cleaned, polished, and used.
Ebay, is a good place to sell. The Leaks TL12,plus can fetch £1000 each.
Usually £1500 ,for a pair. But in an auction
Prices can vary.
If say they use all Mullards, a high price
Follows.
More important, is that the people who
Bid will cherish these superb amps.
Your late father in law would approve, I m sure.
The same applies to the Quads.
Now the Chapman is quite rare.
Don,t rush this sale.
Such gear properly serviced prior to sale
Will fetch good prices.
If all this is too much hassle
Paul Greenfield at Classic Sounds in
Leicester, would be helpful.
I have dealt with him on more than one
Occasion.

thank you Johnnyo

this is very much appreciated information.
I have had an auctioneer come around today, mainly about some lead soldiers (i say "some" very loosely, well over 3000 lead soldier's infact)

he took a look at the Amplifier equipment and said "we might hit £1000 for all the equipment at auction"
Yes this was hard to hear after what i have seen online, but i have no way of testing them myself and have no knowledge of such equipment.

i will surely contact your man in Leicester, thank you again.

There are no loudspeakers on your list, but there must have been some!

Hi Labarum

he built 2 complete set ups (one in his living room, the other in the spare room) and was looking to build a 3rd to sell on.
I believe this is where these extra amps and bits have come from and sadly, he never got round to starting his project.
I guess this is where the lack of speakers come into it, he just never got round to buying any for this 3rd project.

Attention!!!!!!
The amps, phono stage and Garrard 401
Could easily net £50000, maybe more.
Check out prices for yourself on Ebay.
The auctioneer is not being honest.

ukaudiomart.com is a decent place to buy and sell hifi gear. It is free to do so, too.

Good luck , nice equipment.
