I've just got a Yamaha GO44 music interface which I intend to use mainly to record some of my vinyls at 24/192 onto my MacBook and HD and thence, when feeling lazy, back into my system for less than critical listening comfort. It uses a firewire connection to the Mac but for connection to my amp it doesn't have normal RCA phono sockets but what look like good old headphones jack sockets. Is this what the pro-audio world uses instead of RCAs ? It also says the analogue sockets are for balanced input/output - if I choose to knock up these i/cs myself, does this mean I should connect the screen to the core at the plugs or am I way out of line ?
