I too think that being death would make life pretty unbearable :D

Back to the question though, I guess that, ultimately, being deaf is less of a disability than being blind. I know that most blind people can lead full and independent lives but, particularly for someone who has known both sight and hearing, the loss of sight would be the more debilitating.

If I became deaf I'd still be able to do my job with little or no change, still be able to cycle to work, still be able to drive (allthough not legally on the road), still be able to do my photography, watch movies etc. etc. I could be deaf and, with some adaptation, no one around me would even be aware of it.

It would have to be left arm for reasons of its the least needed of all the limbs.

but I would have to take into account the reason why I need to eat my limb, although I was tempted by the size of my leg I felt I needed to walk out of this place alive.
