I would like to import a secondhand amplifier from Denmark.
I have not been able to get through to the Customs & Excise people on the phone - although I will try again.
However, does anyone out there know if you have to pay
    (a) Import VAT (b) customs duty (c) excise duty on a secondhand amplifier?
Is there any paper work that you need that might help the box pass through customs more quickly.
I shall be using UPS as the courier service.
    Thank you

Denmark is in the EU - there should be no duty or VAT to pay as goods may circulate freely.

If the transaction is for business, 'aquisitions' are declared on the vat return.

Denmark isn't in the Euro, they stayed out like UK.

Denmark is in the EU and, as Jampot says, you shouldn't get hit with VAT or import tax. Check with customs, but you should be OK.

Could I just ask what you write on the customs declaration sticker? Are you saying that even if you write, e.g., "hi-fi value £1100" there is nothing to pay so long as the journey is from one EU country to another? That is my understanding but I'd be glad if you could confirm that from personal experience.

you don't need a customs decalaration for the eu.......

Also when goods are sent make certain they are double boxed ...or at least make the box look nondescript.

I've had loads of stuff sent from all over the world and have only had to pay tax on a couple .........

ths may of course just be luck !

ooops....... your in Norway as for customs declarations don't lie but they don't need to know everything!

if your sending a super ic cable made of folgistam and costs the gdp of small island nation ....just describe it as "wire" and mark it as a gift with a reasonable value ie £10 to £20
