Basicaly my amp has died. It has quite a few faults, I am going to give it a good clean inside but if that dosn't solve it I need a new cheap amp.

How bad are the Acoustic Solutions SP101 amps? I don't use the speakers that much and I have a trusty old Rotel preamp for headphone duties.

How much can I get for my Marantz PM6010OSE in its faulty condition? Basicaly there are balance and input problems with it.

Question 2 first a tenner if you're lucky on ebay. Don't buy the acoustic solutions there are some good amps around if you look for £50:
    Try these:
PBirkett looks to be selling his Exposure, he paid just over a hundred if I remember rightly

this would be my choice, and if you're worried about it needing Din plugs, I've got some you can have. This is without doubt one of the best sounding amps you can get for £50

Buy it AT don't buy something cheap and nasty.

I have fixed it now anyway. I took the lid off, some of the copper was showing on the ribbon cable near the balance pot so I removed and reconnected it. I also hoowevered out all the dust and it is now fine. Both faults (input selection and balance) have now been fixed.

I am guessing it was a loose connection on the balance pot and dust on the tracks.

I am guessing the balance must have been faulty for ages because it sounds so much better than I ever remember it now.

That Creek 4040 would be a bargain if the price stays low. My flatmate has one and it sounds great with his old Wharfedales. Wonderful, fun, punchy, dynamic sound.

Yeah I was looking at that before. I kind of want one now, but I have got my Marantz sounding good I have no need for it and I already have far too much AV stuff in my room due to my DJ setup.

The Creek is a nice amp - I have a Russ Andrews modified (oops) one which I'm hanging on to as hi-fi history - I play it now and again and like the dynamic nature of the sound.
