I promised myself to leave this sort of stuff well alone but after seeing a link on another forum I thought Id have a look at this just to kill 5 mins and broaden ones minds:

But some of the stuff they put in there :mad: . I dont want to tar anyone but this to me is typical of narrow-minded, small town yokels who vote in nutters like bush. In some threads they've got the cheek to call Europe 'very racist', Europe!! I have a low opinion of many Americans anyhow (which is wrong I know) but this uuurrrrghhhhhh. I would join and give 'em what for but I think my post would last a matter of minutes!
 
Very helpful site indeed. I must try something like this:

I enjoy collecting things and the like, even if there isn't much of a meaning to it. I have looked back and found that I was able to stay away from porn for the longest when I marked the days on the calender that I was porn free. So I decided to do something similar. I gave my mom a bunch of "cards" with crosses on them. She will give me one for everyday I am porn free. I will then be able to buy christian shirts or other items in exchange for the cards. If I ever stumble, my mom will simply take away the last thing I bought and then I will have to buy it again. This way I have stuff to symbolize my victories.


Anyway, tell me what you think of the idea, I thought it up yesterday and I think it is pretty good. I'll let you guys know how it goes for me.

I appreciate the fun in this [I wouldnt want people to pidgeonhole me with johnhunt for example]..but

I think we need to step back and behave even handedly. If I was to start a thread with*#~*ing Pakistanis!!!!!!! followed by some Islamic link, we wouldn't get our knickers in a twist - or would we??

It is very hard for me not to say some very offensive things about religion, Christianity especially so I will just say :chunder:

I didn't even realise anyone could be 'addicted' to porn! It must be quite a hard addiction to overcome because you can simply close your eyes and envisage it!
 
Graham C - for that reason I am debating closing this thread.

Lately I have been very unhappy about some of the attitudes and opinions expressed here, and about the behaviour of people in responding to those. I like to think that the people who post here are mature and able to post responsibly, and I don't like closing or deleting threads. It's a case of damned if I leave things alone ("by leaving it you must support that view") and damned if I moderate ("you're stifling free speech for everyone but wishy-washy liberals"). Believe me, I have had pms with those lines in.
 
Americans for the most part are good people. My experiences meeting Americans has been 99% positive. The two main problems with Americans are 1) They are probably the most heavily propagandised nation on the planet so are the most ignorant (not stupid), and 2) Their government (same in common with the rest of us I suppose), which unfairly tars the whole nation rather than just the few sociopaths who rule. There is also an extreme minority of fundamentalists (who get a LOT of media attention...) as there are here and everywhere these days. So what? They do not represent the majority in any way, shape or form.
 
Another useful resource from the U.S.

Regarding the percieved US-bashing, I don't see it as such. It's a nation of 300 million people. If they have the usual quota of loonies, there will be more loonies there than in the UK. They are also more www-savvy and -equipped than the average European nation, I believe, so it's easier to find things on the net for posting here.

Plus, I could post the occasional hilarious page from Germany but it wouldn't be of much use to most members here.

I also don't think there's an undue aversity to religion.

Religion (Christianity and Catholocism especially) SUCK. Sorry mum, but there it is. When you've finished praying to your god about beating your cancer (man-made cures I think you'll find) and finished saying to your god that you forgive him for dad's terminal cancer, and then dad dies, you'll forgive your god again.

Well pardon me, but what a crock of sh1t.

Catholocism ruins thousands of lives every day, entombing people to guilt and opression. If anyone thinks I'll worship that bunch of arse they're mistaken. Isn't it odd how my mum can condone and worship this god, when one one side of her, there's her brother who's a franciscan monk, and on the other, well, let's just say the other end of her sibling scale involves loving thy neighbour in the NON biblical sense...

Woah - I'll step down from my soapbox now!
