Was listening last night to my Jupiter CDp and no problems at all.

Turn on today with the intention of trying the demagic, played a track and i get bad distortion and lower volume on one channel.
Swapped cables and amp inputs but the problem follows the CDp.

Not a happy bunny:mad:

Emailed Rega (no phone number supplied), now for the wait.
Does anyone know what Rega repair service is like?

wierdness

So first off when i found the problem i changed IC's and the problem persisted, i then tried it on different amp inputs and it still persisted, so i changed the channels of the IC at the CDp end and it swapped channel. So this says there is a channel problem with the CDp yes?

I had to remove the CDp from the rack to get the serial number for emailing Rega. After my first post on the subject i went and put the CDp back on the rack and pluged in again, now there isnt any problem with it:confused:

I guess i should get it looked at by Rega anyway?

I dunno, I have had things like this happen, moved a few wires and all has been ok.

I would leave it for a month or so, and see if it recurs, no need to be hasty, could be nothing. mind you , if its under warranty...

How are the avis doing? any news?

Penance, in regards to your question about Rega's Service dept. in my dealings with them they have been nothing short of excellent. As certain forum members know my P25 was wrecked in transit by Parcel Force. Rega rebuilt it and shipped it the day their service dept. received it. So I've nothing but praise for their customer service.

I agree they have a good reputation.

I'd hang fire for a day or two and see if the problem reoccurs.

Well the problem did not show itself again last night, or this morning. Certainly a wierd one.
I sent another mail to Rega and i will see what they suggest.

AVI's - I have had full repayment but they are sitting in a cupboard waiting until i here what the guy wants done with them.

Yep - Rega's service is excellent - had problems with my Planar 3 (fixed free - nice transferrable lifetime guarantee!) and also my Mira amp (a known software glitch - sorted in a week). I also had an issue with my Planet's lid, but there wasn't a lot they could do there - a late model with the infamous "off" die-cast mouldings, due to age.

The Planet, oddly enough, has (touch wood!) worked flawlessly now for over 2 years; the "bug" seems to have gone away.

Penance - could it be a minor dry joint or loose connection, that solved itself when you physically moved the player rather than the leads???

Just had this reply from Rega

"Dear Andy,

The initial fault may be caused by a static short in the software.
Unplugging and replacing the power automatically resets the software.
Keep an eye on the unit and return it to us for inspection if it should happen again.

Regards,"

So maybe not so bad after all :)
