KT Tunstall

I remember starting a thread about her a few months ago and I got slated. I think peoples opinion changed when she appeared with her band on Jools Holland a month or so ago. She did a cover of Bob Dylan's Tangled up in Blue which was really good.

Anyway, she should have a new album out this year, I cant wait. Apparently because of her age she had a real hard time getting a record deal, there was only one record label that would touch her, all the others turned her down because she's the wrong side of 25. It really shows the mentality of record companies these days, no wonder there's so much ****e going around.

I'll say what I said a few months back:

"I think KT Tunstall's album is terrific - took me a few spins to get to like it and then it just got better and better. It got to a point where as soon as it finished I'd just put it on again - and I haven't felt the need to do this with an album for years.

A definite star in the making - fine songs, great lyrics. Seeing her live in Bristol in October."

Regrettably I didn't get to see her live due to a family bereavement but I'm told she was fantastic live.

Matt.

One of my fave Dylan tunes, would have liked to have seen her do that. Must start taping Later...

I just saw the video of her doing Black Horse and the Cherry Tree live solo. It looked like hard work! She took samples of her doing each thing and built it up. The timing was off a bit on a few bits but it was very good. I bet she will get tired of doing that one!

I seen a bit of her doing that on the Mercury awards I think.

I seen Rose Kemp (www.rosekemp.co.uk) doing the same thing a few MOnths ago at a gig. Despite her being very drunk, it worked really well!

She sounded perfectly British to me

Maybe some Scottish people don't like to be called British, but she still sounded it!

Oh come on mate :( You may not like it but 'flipin rubbish Pop Idol cack' it certainly isn't. Can't you spot a decent tune when it comes along?

Sure I mentioned this before? I think its a cracking album, managed to see her live the other month and shes a great performer too! Thumbs up from me.

:bs:

You either haven't heard the album or must be mad.

Of course you don't have to like her music but to compare her with pop idol is just insulting - she writes all her own songs for starters. She's far more PJ Harvey than Darius Danesh!

Got the album today for my birthday - only on Track 2 at the moment, but am very impressed. Nice to hear some decent 'new' music for a change.

Happy birthday! The rest of the album is just as good as I'm sure you have found out! Track 4 and 9 are cool :D
