LEXUS LF-A Supercar

Well, the pedigree is the company that has revolutionized car manufacturing - if not all manufacturing.
Everyone else is still trying to catch up.
If you bought on racing pedigree, it would be a Citroen or a Fiat :-)
Honestly, though, as I said somewhere else, I'd rather have a Nissan Fairlady Z. In fact I think that is probably exactly what I will get next time :-)
The new Subayota looks interesting. Hopefully the subie version will be AWD and turbo'd. The J-spec 2-litre turbo boxer is a lovely engine.

Joel,

I like some FIATs :-). Citroen used to make interesting cars but now are much too normal for my liking.

I'm not certain what sort of pedigree I meant, but something like a Ferrari 250 GTO (yes I know you can never buy one for the measly some being quoted here). It would need to stir the soul/emotion.

TBH, even if I was to win the lottery I'd not spend £330k on a new car. I'm not sure what would make it special enough for me. Being the sensible type, I'd be happy with a Maserati Quattroporte or Aston Martin Rapide (and an M5 or an Evo if it broke down :)) and have some change left over for fuel. I like the Nissan GT-R but it has only 2 doors.

Now you're talking!

But seriously, I've seen the Quattroport (and the Grand Turismo) in the flesh and IMO nothing comes close to it's drop dead gorgeous looks except the Aston. As for the interior, oh, you've already mentioned the leather...

I have seen both too and all of the astons (I think my boss owns 6 of them!). The GT looks good but the QP not so good I feel. I think the 2010 xkr beats them and the aston in looks - looking suitably brutish but also with a fluidity and grace since being massaged by the ex-aston designer. I dont think the Maseratis build quality and engineering is in quite the league as jaguar and aston... but it does have a certain italian panache. I guess its all about the leather for you dev ;)

Well the red leather gimp outfit you wore at Thorstens place made your prediliction very clear I would say!

No, just kidding.

Sadly it isnt matched by the standard of the engineering of the transmission and electrics etc. I think the jags and AMs are ahead in this respect.

So, Toyota has pulled out of F1. Judging from the reaction to the LFA, I can't say I blame them. The Toyota F1 team has been woefully bad, brought precisely no benefit to the brand, and asToyota are clearly set to reveal some really bad results tomorrow, it has probably come down to a straight choice between closing lines and axing real jobs or getting rid of the non-performing and ridiculously expensive racing team.
Beyond that, though, I think there's a fundamental disconnect between motor racing and where the motor industry is heading. The present and future is ECO, not extravagant, wasteful and oily motor racing. Sad, but this is the New Normal.
