If you had the funds to actually design a hi fi listening room from the beginning, how would it be done ?

What are the calculations to be done and what shape or sizewould be the best room ? ie a room which has no boomy bass etc..

One would think from your previous posts that you already know the answers to this!

I know what I would do but frankly, whether or not I feel like disclosing this info to you is another matter.

Try google.

"this has been asked before, suggest you try using search to find the threads" is not generally the answer given to newbies, but since you now have 73 posts, please note that this has been asked before, suggest you try using search to find the threads.

hint, its not a square one like mine.

The ideal room shape is a Sphere. where the listener is on a metal mesh floor in the center.

You could also try talking to many of the acoustic engineers that design theatre's and other professional rooms for an audio/music application.

From my old contacts in the USA I know that there are several software packages now available for professionals working in this industry to assist them in not only designing new but modifying existing listening/audience environments.

Open University is also running a course called 'The Technology of Music', this would be a great education platform for those wishing to know more or maybe running a business in this field (I'v certainly come across a few people running businesses in this field in the UK that don't really have the qualifications in this field but see it as a way of selling acoustic treatments for alot of money!)

don't any of you audiophiles know ?

Many of us know.

But I guess we just cannot be bothered to discuss anything with you. Your approach to debate and discussion just grates too much with people and rubs them up the wrong way.

Acrylic mesh would be better.

Actually I was only joking. What I suggested would be about the worst thing you could do.

Sorry I am just having fun as Johnny was pretty much trolling before.

Nobody seems to take any notice when you make erroneous remarks like this.

Where did you get this idea from eh ?

You'll have the sound coming at you like a laser beam to say the least.

If your education where sufficiently broad you would know or at least you would know how to ask for the information in such a way that people might want to answer.

As it is I think I think I'll leave you to find your answers.

Thorsten do you know the answer to my question or not ?

If so, then I would appreciate your advice. If not, stop mucking about.

Probably, but the way you have been going about I'll pass on answering.

Anyway, the answer is actually quite obvious, you can within a wide degree of freedom (there are limitations) arrange the room way you like, the key is to use speakers that are largely room independent.

Well we did apologize, so lets call it quits and make a fresh start.

I don't understand what you've written. It doesn't make sense.

What do you mean arrange the room ?

All speakers are room dependent...most are in fact highly room dependent, and in the case of the speaker you designed, is in fact designed to take advantage of certain room sizes and certain positions in the room.

But what I am asking is how to design the room size / shape from the beginning ?

Apart from a wind up artist....

You know, this makes a creepy kind of sense....

Basically, are you suggesting behind the mask of "Johnny" there hides "El Chupacabra"?

That would explain a lot.

Hmmm, better call FT and MEMORON.

Click here if you want to do the Macarena with the Chupacabra.
