Looking to buy a turntable

The 1210 sound all thin and too 'Technics' like.

Quite opposite of my own findings:

To the original poster: a well set up SL-1200 with a sympathetic
cartridge and phonostage can be stellar. But as yours have seen
DJ work it is wise either to have their arms checked for
wear or just buy another (new) one for hifi work.

Just to be completely safe, you know you can not scratch or cue on a proper hi-fi deck, right? If you DJ you should keep the Technics for that.

that's not quite true... i know of someone djing with two simon yorke s9s....

crazy but true. after all they do have a carbon mat that will slip...

and why would you not be able to dj with any number of other decks? frankly anything that has a mat and doesn't have to use a clamp would be fine. i'm not sure i would want to use an expensive cartridge, but really i think people get a little precious sometime.

turntable..?

Im currently looking to buy a turntable for my hifi set up...

At the moment I own 2 technics 1210s and a dj mixer, but im under the impression that a proper turntable will be much better for sound quality.

Can anyone recommend any particular brands or makes of turntable?.

I've recently sold my Technics SL1200 and bought a Rega Planar 3, yes a big difference in overall sound, much more focused and detailed everywhere, worth doing ok! I haven't looked back...
