This is probably one for paul. I am thinking of replacing my CD player or at least adding a new source as my CDP is playing up and I am much better and coping with the digital world.

If I was to build an audiphile media centre how would it fair with a Marantz CD6000 OSE LE player? The media centre will be stereo only and its prime function will be music.

One of our members is using his laptop and a P.S. audio ultralink111 with a usb connection with wonderfull results. He has since sold his top of the line Mac. and Quad units. The P.S. unit sells for $1000US from Music Direct with a 30 day money back guar. We had the sqeezebox as well the P.S. D/A has a more natural presintation not hifi sounding especially the top end. happy listening. rollo

but wireless is voodoo witchcraft and can't sound better than a wired connection - IT JUST CANT THERE'S NO WIRES.... next up how lossless audio is lying to you and doesn;t sound as good as a physical carrier. then why don;t my 6 inch bookshelf speakers go down to 20hz

I wouldn't go with M-Audio soundcards. Try an RME-Audio or,if you have the cash, a LynxStudio soundcard. An RME-Audio 96.8 PAD can be had for reasonable money on ebay and will blow your DAC out of the water :)

Any particular reason? My 24/96 card sounds pretty good, although I haven't compared to any thing other than the onboard sound (I don't do soundcard auditioning :-)

Sure, some of their range sound pretty good (I owned a Delta 1010) . The RME-Audio and LynxStudio cards are head and shoulders above it in terms of performance (to my ears anyway :) ) If he wants to get performance that beats his DAC they are the best cards to look to in my experience.

I see your point. I'll keep this in mind if I need to upgrade. Thanks.

It's ok. You just have to use a can of Russ Andrews AirFreshener one a week to keep airborn particles from degrading the sound.
