Mana demo

The General Assembly of the Brotherhood of MANA :D

Will father John be there, better take a hankie.

I thought the idea was to put on a show to sell products, surely all you who are going have about as much mana as you need already, where's the marketing sense in that.

Any way I hope you enjoy yourself, why not suggest to John that he do a demo at the Scottish hifi show, I'm sure there are a lot who would like such a thing but are unwilling to drive 200-300 miles for the priveledge of being sold to.

It might sound very good. However if the intention is to demonstrate "the Mana effect", it would be a complete waste of time IMO unless a before and after comparison can be made. DBT or otherwise.

I know what you mean, but I'm not sure that that is true. Hearing well-set-up Mana rigs completely changed my outlook on what can be achieved with hi-fi.

Yeah but unless we get the chance to hear the same kit without the Mana supports (maybe on Hutter or something), how can we judge the effectiveness of Mana

The answer is that you can't.

But if you heard the best sound ever, that might mean something. OTOH, it might not. The thing is, I'm conditioned to believe that Mana probably works because all the 'best' sounds I've heard have been made by equipment supported on Mana.

I'm not claiming this as 'proof', just my experiences.

I owned Mana equipment stands many years ago.

What do they use these days for the actual equipment platform support?

Glass/MDF/Chipboard?

Exactly my point.

Interesting that people who already have Mana are salivating over this event (surely they already know how "good" it is!), but how are they going to attract prospective customers or sceptics?, especially without being able hear the Mana effect?

What about a 4 way demo, say Pagode/Townshend/Hutter/Quadrispire, all using the same electronics, would be far more relevent, that way the punters could judge for themselves

Perhaps Hi-Fi+ should have included Mana in this months test.

Must admit, i would like to hear the effect of mana speaker bases or stand or whatever they are called.
Want to cure the bouncy floor syndrome.
So would I, but without a comparison, how would you know if it was mana or the kit?, or both?

4 way demo to prove the effectiveness of Mana without actually including Mana? :D

I can't see what the problem would be. Simply set up two supports and swap the kit over half way through. Something comparable pricewise - say Townsend or Finite Element.

The superiority of Mana is so well publicised that this really should be a very easy way to demonstrate the clear advantage it has

I know what you are saying, but I think that a quick A-B doesn't tell you very much (not just stand comparisons, btw). It's far better to live with a component for a few days, then take it away and see if you can do without. This is what makes meaningful stand comparisons very very difficult to do.

All I know is that Mana has progressively 'cleaned up' the muddly noises my kit used to make, making the music much more coherent and easier to follow. I've noticed similar traits in other Mana-supported systems belonging to friends, and conversely non-Mana-supported systems have a tendency to sound congested in comparison, particularly so when the music gets very complicated.

Blind faith Dev, blind faith!:D Many of the people at the show will be convinced that the great sounds they hear are being contributed by the Mana stands not necessarily the amplifiers.;) Although, I wonder what the ECS amps would sound like on a Finite Elemente Pagode or a Naim Fraim or Townshend Seismic Sink?

Btw, weren't the ECS amplifiers once known as Stealth amplifiers which Mana sold or was supposed to sell? Just trying to establish what the link is between the two brands. So what's the story, morning glory?;)

Enjoy the music,

Lawrie.:D
