Just wondering if anyone can answer my little query. Is it possible to reclock a Marantz CD5000 - Philips CD 763 player.
The reason I ask, I can't see a crystal on the pcb, just wondering if I should be looking for a different component?
BTW these players have TDA1549 chips.

Have you had a look on the PCB under the transport mech? I've seen a picture which suggests that's where the crystal is.

The TDA1549 is supposed to be a good DAC chip from what I've read.

There are likely to many other good mods you can also do!

Many thanks, you are quite correct,it is a 33Mhz type. I'm still in the process of modding, by on the 1st listen to my Marantz CD48 in standard form, good mids and high freq, bass....what bass, very poor bottom end, reminds me of listening to a poor amp, or car stereo, where you have to press the loudness button,or the bass & treble to max, to give it some life.

    Many Thanks
