Marantz CD-63 Signature - different Signature ..... Please Help!

Hi I have a CD-63 in lovely working order

I was having a brouse of ebay to see its value and noticed how all the signatures on other CD players are different

First here is a picture of mine...

and secondly here is a picture typical of others I found

Why could this be - is it a reflection of age?

Any help would be great as I cant find any info on the net and am really intrigued!

I have a third variation! mine is just a transfer 'Special Edition' under the CD drawer. As I understand it, the top picture with Ken thingy's initials was the premium product. As I was effectively 'given' mine (see other posts) I never researched it in detail. I have been surprised by the generally supportive comments of the kit and now I know Marantz was associated with Phillips I feel abit more positive about it generally.

The plastic signature version was the first batch KI Signature product, retailing at £500. IIRC there were 1,000 of these players.

As they were so popular, Marantz continued to offer them (version 2 with gold looking plaque) but at £400.

I have the latest (as far as I know the last varient) the DP version, which was a reworking of the machine and finished in copper.

They all had a copper base.

The DP version was a send back to Marantz (2003/4 ish) for a complete overhaul and many new wizzy bits.

Included in the work, was all the panels were copper coated.
