Hello
What preamps are recommended for the quad 909 poweramp?
I guess the series 99 is the most popular, but what about the QC twentyfour and how is the match with other brands?

Is any specific wires (IC or loudspeakercables) recommended?

It has a perfectly standard input and so will work fine with the vast majority of pre amps.

If you elect to use a passive pre, keep the interconnects short and select low capacitance cable.
 
Thanks a lot Rob! I gather it's not good with the QC 24 - but it's more about the impedance of the preamp..
 
Yes, valve pre so high output impedance.
Might be ok with a short interconnect (<1m) of very low capacitance.
