Microsoft Internet Explora Warning

    news just in from microsoft, avoy using internet explora due to chinese hackers after google shut their system down with china! anyone wiser on this?

    Why would anyone in their right mind use MS Internet Explorer in the first place Nando? It's a leaky resource hungry monster!

    Cant understand the problem.I've been known to visit some very dubious parts of the Internet and aint picked up any kind of virus,worm, cold or other type of nasty.seen plenty of them but they don't want to play on my machine for some reason.

    no just curios as to what? i have no problem with windows just curios as to why google chose to cancel and close their chinesee offices and microsoft send this warning, that's all,

    I'd read the original post before jumping to conclusions. I.e. Nando didn't say that he had issues with IE, merely asking if anyone could explain Google and MS' actions (I think).

    I heard something about this on the news last week. Its to do with censorship - Microsoft are fed up with the Chinese government telling them what to block and as their market share is relatively small against the Chinese ISPs its no problem for them (apparently). As I understand it, you can still access all the Chinese sites. Most people are completely unaffected by the decision.

    It all started as a dispute about which cables to use....

    OK. Its made the news today. I'm a bit off track! Seems its older version (pre V8) and its only a 'could' be hacked. Its liked to the Google story because this is how the human rights supporters' accounts were accessed in China.

    The advice from Zygote is sound.
