been looking for a decent stereo mic for my portable mindisc, got rather a shock when i saw the prices.cheapest around £20 and increasing rapidly,in a brief stroke of creative genius
i decided it couldnt be that difficult ,a quick look at the service manual showed that the special "power ready" microphone socket is nothing special,it just puts a few volts d.c on the signal lines, maplins here i come,2 electret condenser microphone and a 3.5mm stereo jack plug please.
youll also need some screened cable,12mm heatshrink and 30cm of 2.5 mm twin + earth.
strip the 2.5 mm and twist the red and black wires together for about 15 cm ,leaving 5cm and 10 cm at either end untwisted.
the longest untwisted wires supports the microphones, and is held to the mic with heatshrink
next up cover the twisted body with heatshrink, fit the plug and use
inital testing sounds pretty good, especially for less than a fiver
