Muffled sound from certain albums

I am struggling with getting a nice clear sound from all of my vinyl. I have a Pioneer SX-3700 receiver, dual 1228 TT with a SHURE M91 MG-D cart, rotel rtc-950 preamp and Bowers and Wilkins Matrix 3 series two speakers or Infinity SM152 speakers.
Some albums (Dire Straits, JJ Cale, Heart) crystal clear with no brassiness (sp?) while others (Led Zepplin, Neil Young, Eagles) can get very harsh , distorted and muffled. I have tried different stylus and weight combinations. Even different TT's. The Dual has been the best. I have used the Pioneers phono amp, which does seem to soften the harshness a bit. I have also used a Parasound zphono xrm phono preamp, which actually made things worse.
Could it just be the albums?
Any advice would be welcome. It has been very frustrating.

Have you tried the problem albums on another TT? You should do this first to rule out that they are damaged.

Sorry just seen you have. In which case either that are terrible recordings/masters or the records are damaged. I would try and hear then on a streaming platform or even free Spotify too see if they are just harsh recordings.

Thanks for your response. I've been experimenting with the tone arm weight. I bought a micro balance to check actual weight and it matches up pretty close to the dialed weight.
The stylus is supposed to be set at about 1.5. But I found increasing the weight to 2.5 reduces the muddy sound, reduces the harsh highs and increases the bass response. Even made good albums sound better. My only concern is what negative effects of adding that much more weight to the album and or stylus will do.
