I'm into this and have several cd's and also a dvd of a festival.

Purpose of this thread is to seek further recommendations from others and to give mine. Also to help start anyone who has heard a bit and become curious. I have some absolute gems to recommend.

I'd like to hear from anyone here who likes the traditional music of this Celtic corner of France.

Like anything else, there is a lot of dross, but equally there are some wonderful gems out there in relative obscurity.

I mainly post on the Hifiwigwam but I thought I'd reach out here too, as fans of "Breizh" music surely are not many.

Yes, they can be great.

They can also be terrible and they sometimes look like they are in a pantomime ! :)

But yes, when they are good they are great.

They have many, many albums but what to choose ? Well, I reckon a triple compilation available on French Amazon is actually a good way to access their music on CD.

Samples are available there to hear them.

There are various clips of them on Youtube ( some look awful/hillarious but the music is good )

The latter two Youtube links are from a dvd called Bretagnes A Bercy, which I think shows off Tri Yann really well. The last link there shows them performing the anthem-like Tri Martolod with Alan Stivell and Dan Ar Braz.

I would highly recommend getting that Bretagnes A Bercy dvd before it gets deleted. It is the one really worth getting I think. I've seen others e.g. Heritages Des Celtes, which really isn't well done. The music on Bretagnes A Bercy is superb and the production, well pretty good for a tv thing.
